By

Jessica Ni, a local Vernon Hill resident, has practiced Wu Shu (Chinese Martial Arts) for two years. She received three gold medals in sections: Long Tassel Straight Sword, Nine-section Chain Whip, and Tong Bei Quan ("Spreading Power from the Back Boxing"), and two Silvers in the Overall Competition and the Spear, at the 2013 Golden State International Wushu Championship on June 15, competing with Wu Shu athletes with four to 10 years' experiences from around the globe.

Jessica Ni is coached by Kaifei Song, an Elite Kung Fu Master and a seven-time national Kung Fu Champion and a well-respected Kung Fu teacher in the Chicago region.

Master Song founded the Soaring Eagle Kung Fu School (www.soaringeaglekungfu.com), a premier martial arts school located at 291 N Northwest Hwy. in Palatine, where he teaches traditional and contemporary Chinese martial arts, Tai Chi and San Da (Chinese kickboxing) for adults and children.

His students have earned numerous gold, silver and bronze medals at various International Martial Arts competitions.
