Creek Bend Nature Center to hold learning program on butterflies

Learn identification and ecology of native butterflies at Creek Bend Nature Center Saturday, June 29, with the Kane County Forest Preserve District.

The program will begin with an indoor introduction, and then participants will head outdoors to find butterflies in various habitats. In addition to identification, instruction will include habitat requirements, life cycles, conservation and monitoring. The instructor will be Tom Peterson, volunteer coordinator for the Illinois Butterfly Monitoring Network.

The butterflies program is part of the Learn From the Experts program series.

Programs are taught by experts who offer in-depth information and learning opportunities about local ecology. This award-winning program series is co-sponsored by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County and the St. Charles and Geneva park districts.

This program is for ages 16 and older. It is $15 per person. Butterflies will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 29, at Creek Bend Nature Center within LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve at 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles.
