Vernon Hills OKs memory care facility

Vernon Hills officials have given informal approval to an assisted living/memory care facility proposed for a 7-acre site on Milwaukee Avenue between North and South Woodbine Circle.

Dallas-based South Bay Partners wants to provide 67 private pay units in a one-story building on what is known as the County Mayo site. The facility would be designed to care for dementia patients from diagnosis to the most advanced cases, according to company representatives.

The village board said the location is appropriate and the proposal will receive a more detailed staff review in advance of a future public hearing.
