A kitchen fire left a Libertyville home uninhabitable Saturday evening, according to officials.
The fire started around 6:45 p.m. at a home on the 200 block of North Butterfield Road, said Bob Key, assistant fire chief for the Libertyville Fire Department.
No one was home at the time of the fire, but firefighters did save a dog, Key said. The department received help from Mundelein, Countryside and Lake Forest firefighters.
While the fire was contained confined primarily to the kitchen, it left the home uninhabitable, Key said. He did not have an estimate for the cost of damage and said the cause is still under investigation.
