Red Stars’ two-game winning streak snapped

The Chicago Red Stars (2-5-2) saw their two-game winning streak snapped Thursday when they dropped a 2-0 decision to FC Kansas City in Lisle.

Casey Loyd and Courtney Jones scored for FC Kansas City. Loyd converted a penalty kick in the 26th minute after Sonja Fuss was called for a foul.

“Any time you go down in a game you have to start chasing the game and it changes a lot of things,” said Red Stars coach Rory Games. “The entire second half was stretched and they’re athletic so it makes it difficult.”

In the 65th minute, Jones gave FC Kansas City a 2-0 advantage when she beat rookie goalie Taylor Vancil, who started because Erin McLeod is playing for the Canadian national team.

Inka Grings and Maribel Dominguez had scoring chances for the Red Stars but could not convert.
