Support for letters on grid, guns

Kudos to Chris Curtis, CEO of Schneider Electric, and John Estey, executive chairman of S7C Electric, for their brief but, I believe, effective article on the Smart Grid.

While this grid system is a somewhat complex system, it really should be pushed as hard as possible. The effects of the system are reduced pollution, cheaper electrical rates and a boom in electrical construction/alteration.

Ultimately, it also reduces pollution by reducing kilowatt hours from coal plant emissions and coal use. It will generate a small boom in electric plants alteration, improvement and construction. It will also reduce consumer costs/kwh and demand charges.

On a separate letter, Mr. Piagari also provided a well-considered piece on “Good guys carrying guns.” For the longest time, Illinois has been fighting to prevent the average private citizen from getting and carrying guns while allowing the criminals to have all they want.

Predictably, it didn’t work. With a mandatory concealed carry law, we will eventually begin to run out of bad people and the good guys can ride on top for a change.

Illinois has always been incapable of working right. Maybe we’ll get a chance this time. I fully intend to be one of those that can carry a concealed weapon.
