Fox River Valley library awards prizes to Summer Reading Club participants

Submitted by Fox River Valley Public Library

Travel to the Fox River Valley Public Library District this summer for some Summer Reading Club fun.

Learn how a book can take you anywhere with this year's “Have Book — Will Travel” theme. Sign up starts Monday, June 3, at either the Dundee Library, 555 Barrington Ave., East Dundee, or the Randall Oaks Branch, 500 N. Randall Road, West Dundee.

For children, more prizes will be available this year. Children can earn prizes and tickets for the drawings by doing weekly readings, visiting the library, having or getting a library card, attending programs and more. When kids finish reading the number of minutes required for their age group, they earn a free book. While you're at the library, be sure to enter the weekly guessing challenges for more chances to win.

During the program, activities are planned to keep kids busy and excited to visit the library.

Log on to the “Events & Registration” page at www.frvpld.info to find out more about the activities, including “1,000 Paper Cranes,” “Cool Cruising Crafts,” “Globe-Trotting Games,” “Fun Around the World,” “Library Sleepover” and many more.

Teens can also visit the Information Services Desk on the main level to register. Each teen who turns in a completed reading log will receive a paperback book. Teens can fill out the “Recommended Read” entries for a chance to win one of the weekly gift card drawings. Teens can check our teen blog at www.frvpld.info for reading recommendations and book reviews, and don't forget to register for some special summer programs just for teens like the “Book Tasting,” “Superhero Smash Party,” “Teen Crafts” and a “City of Bones Movie Release Party.”

Adults can register at the Information Services Desk on the main level. All finishers will be entered into the grand prize drawing for a $100 Target gift card. Fill out “Recommended Read” entries for a chance to win one of the weekly gift card drawings. If you could use recommendations yourself, follow the Reader's Block Blog at www.frvpld.info. Join in the discussion at the monthly Dundee Book Club meetings on the last Wednesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. or 7 p.m. If you're going to be using your e-reader this summer and need some help, stop by the Info Services desk. Nook users are invited to attend the “Free Books for Your Nook” event at 7 p.m. Aug. 19.

A current library card is required to sign up for any of the reading programs. All programs end July 13.
