Glen Crest Announces Award Winners for 2012-2013

On Friday, May 24, before the entire student body of Glen Crest Middle School, parents and relatives, the eighth-grade graduating students were given the honors and awards they earned during the 2012-2013 school year, as well as special awards they received for outstanding achievements during their three years of attendance. Principal Todd Schrage coordinated the awards program and guided the presenters and award recipients through the ceremony.

First on the award ceremony agenda were the academic development awards: World Languages Academic Award; Alexandra Jaster and Brianna Kelly: World Language Pillar Award; (French) Youi Ordonez, (Spanish) Zachary Molenda. Literacy Academic Award; Alexandra Jaster, Brianna Kelly and Leslie Williamson; Literacy Pillar Award, Joshua Jacoby, Roy Maio, and Justin Squillo. Mathematics Academic Award was given to Sophie Bair and Grace Gibson. Mathematics Pillar Award presented to Emily Maruyama and Maxwell Myers. Science Academic Award was won by Luke Angelillo and Sophie Bair. Science Pillar Award winners are Jessica Arnold and Ethan Sowl. World Culture Pillar Award was presented to Jack McGee. Social Studies Academic Award: Mariana D'Agostino and Maggie Micklo. Social Studies Pillar Award given to Kayla Ledford and Kaitlyn Lehman.

The Daughters of the American Colonists, Glen Ellyn Chapter presented a book to Victoria Newman for excellence in social studies. Physical Education and Exploratories Department Awards were as follows: Art amd Design Award, Bennett Nishimura, Art and Design Pillar Award, Grace Gibson. Computer Education Adademic Award, Emily Friedman and Jeffery Erl. Computer Education Pillar Award, Nikolajs Gaikis, Brian Prioletti and Abigail Shorr. Health Education Academic Award, Elizabeth Hosek and Andrea Rose. Health Education Pillar Award was given to Maxwell Myers and Youi Ordonez. Home Arts Academic Award was won by Sarah Robinson and Shelby Frtiz and the Home Arts Pillar Award was presented to Amina Attia and Kassandra Vargas. Music Educators Award; Stephen Bean and Maggie Micklo; Music Pillar Award: Connor Lavin. Physical Education Academic Award, Kelsey Breen and Sean Cooke. Physical Education Pillar Award won by Terry Curtis, Roy Maio, Mellissa Laconte and Jessica Van Setters. Director's Award for Symphonic Band was presented to Christian Hillary and Matthew Sampey. Director's Award for Chorus was won by Marina D'Agostino and Joey Wood. Director's Award for Orchestra was given to Elana Kozak and the Orchestra Pillar Award was given to Matt Sampey. The Director's Award for Theater Arts was won by Stephen Bean aand Emily Early.

The Spartan Three Sport Awards were given to Kelsey Breen, Christian Hillard, Spicer Lear, Adam Puchalski, Sarah Robinson and Julia Tillack.

The Presidential Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement was preseneted to Shaniya Barrett, Kate Mitchell, Catherine Crouch, Kevin Moore, Keosha Hoover, Lilliana Pruszewski, Connor Howard, Sean Sabri and Kayla Ledford.
