Zion police are investigating a shooting in a grocery store parking lot that took the life of a Waukegan man on Thursday.

Police were called to the Aldi Foods parking lot on the 2800 block of Sheridan Road at 4:34 p.m. Thursday, officials said.

Officers found a male victim in the front seat of a vehicle. The victim was identified Friday as 23-year-old Mutassem Abdelaziz of Waukegan, according to Lake County Chief Deputy Coroner Orlando Portillo.

An autopsy conducted Friday morning confirmed the cause of death was a gunshot wound, Portillo said.
