Cary Park District hosts Hershey’s National Track and Field Games

The Cary Park District and The Hershey Company present Hershey’s National Track and Field Games. This meet, which is open to boys and girls ages 9 to 14, will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at the Cary-Grove High School track, 2208 3 Oaks Road, Cary.

Events will include the 50-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 800-meter run, 1,600-meter run, 4-by-100 meter relay, standing long jump and softball throw.

Winners of the meet may be eligible to advance to the state meet or even the national finals in Hershey, Pa.

The Hershey’s Track and Field Games has involved youngsters from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the 10 provinces and territories of Canada. It’s solely sponsored by The Hershey Company and partnered with the National Recreation and Park Association, Athletics Canada and the National Association for Sport and Physical Education.

It’s designed to encourage physical fitness among youth and emphasize participation and sportsmanship.

Registration for the Hershey’s Track and Field Games is free. Registration deadline is Thursday, May 30. To register, complete a registration form available at www.carypark.com.
