College of DuPage Earns Certificate for Excellence for Financial Reporting from Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for 20 Consecutive Years

College of DuPage has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its FY 2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). This is the 20th consecutive year the College has received this honor.

The GFOA certification is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by the fiduciary managers of the awarded institution.

“To receive this accolade for two straight decades is a reflection of our Finance Office's dedication to full and timely disclosure,” said Tom Glaser, Senior Vice President of Administration and Treasurer. “This award is given to those institutions that are able to communicate clearly to Board members, management, College staff and community members the financial results of the College. As the reader will see, we manage the financial operations of the College very differently from other units of local government.”

College of DuPage has also received the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for 15 consecutive years, and recently had its Aaa/AAA bond rating affirmed from Moody's and Standard & Poor's, respectively, during incredibly challenging economic times. Additionally, the College has received consistently unqualified clean audit opinions from its external auditing company Crowe Horwath.

The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government financial professionals with offices in Chicago, Ill., and Washington, D.C.
