Boating safety course in Arlington Heights

To ensure boaters have a safe and fun time on the water and meet state requirements, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering an 8-hour course on boating safety next month in Arlington Heights.

Class sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on two consecutive Saturdays, June 15 and 22, at West Marine, 63 W. Rand Road. Topics include boating laws, personal safety equipment, safe boat handling, basic navigation, boating problems, trailering and storing, and more.

The cost of the course is $35 for individuals or $50 per family. Reservations are required and may be made by calling Marlene Janetka at (630) 860-2975.
