Man sentenced for abusing two girls
A Cook County judge sentenced a 26-year-old man to seven years in prison Thursday in exchange for his guilty plea to molesting two girls when they were 9 and 11.
Cook County Judge Ellen Mandletort sentenced Carlos Luz Flores to three years in prison in exchange for his guilty plea to criminal sexual abuse of the 9-year-old and four years in prison in exchange for his guilty plea to criminal sexual assault of the 11-year-old. Mandletort ordered the sentences be served consecutively.
Flores must serve at least 50 percent of the three-year sentence and 85 percent of the four-year sentence before he is eligible for parole. He received credit for 458 days in custody.
Mandletort also ordered Flores to register as a sex offender upon his release.
The molestation took place in Wheeling during 2008, but the girls did not report the abuse until several years later, said Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Sharon Kantor, who told the court the victims’ families agreed with the sentence.
