NAPERVILLE — The Team Stuckey Future Educator Scholarship has awarded two scholarships to graduating senior students of Naperville Central High School who will pursue degrees in education. This year's scholarship recipients are Elaine Coppe, a 2013 NCHS graduate, who will attend Illinois Wesleyan and Ryan Cesario, a 2013 NCHS graduate, who will attend North Central College. Each recipient receives a $5000 scholarship for his or her freshman year of school.

“The applicants emulate the spirit demonstrated with a positive attitude and proactive choices. Both of these candidates have overcome many obstacles and demonstrated leadership and cared for the well-being of others,” states Lisa Wisinski, member of Team Stuckey scholarship committee and a Highlands teacher.

“Team Stuckey” and its scholarship was initiated by Susan Stuckey, Highlands Elementary principal, and her husband, Jeff, as a way to give back to the Naperville District 203 community. The scholarship became more important to the Stuckey's as they faced their own personal health obstacles most recently, Susan has breast cancer and Jeff is a kidney transplant recipient.

“We are thrilled to award two Team Stuckey scholarships this year to District 203 high school seniors. This scholarship is something that is very near and dear to our hearts, it is our way to give it forward to future educators and show our gratitude to school district that is like family to us,” comments Susan Stuckey.

The scholarship recipients will be honored in this year's 2nd Annual “Walk for Whale Wishes” event, set for Saturday May 18 at 9:00 a.m. Proceeds and donations from this year's event will continue to fund the Naperville Education Foundation's Team Stuckey Future Educator Scholarship Fund for years to come.
