Texas’ Cruz to address DuPage GOP

DuPage County Republicans expect roughly 700 attendees at their 52nd annual Lincoln Day Dinner this evening in Oak Brook, where Texas U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is the keynote speaker.

The event at the Marriott Oak Brook Hotel begins at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 7:30 p.m.

DuPage County GOP spokeswoman Meaghan Jorgensen said Congressman Randy Hultgren and former Congresswoman Judy Biggert will be in attendance, along with several state representatives and county officials. Biggert, who lost a bid for re-election in November, and U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk will be honored.

The county party’s last Lincoln Day event — a dinner in February featuring South Dakota Sen. John Thume — raised $80,000. Jorgensen declined to elaborate on how much money would be raised tonight, as it is continuing to come in.
