Wisconsin school hopes Curly Lambeau plaque inspires

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Curly Lambeau's alma mater has honored the Green Bay Packers founder with a plaque at his old high school, in hopes of inspiring current students to achieve.
A Wisconsin Public Radio report says the plaque has been installed at East High School in Green Bay.
It was unveiled recently by Lambeau's grandson, John Lambeau. It reads: "Earl Louis `Curly' Lambeau founded the Green Bay Packers in 1919."
They're simple words, but the Lambeau family hopes the plaque reminds current teens of their potential. John Lambeau says his grandfather just wanted to play football, and he made it happen.
Another early Packer is also being recognized. A plaque in honor of Arnie Herber is being installed across town at West High School — East High's rival for more than 100 years.
