Mundelein’s Medline recognized for ‘green’ health care

Practice Greenhealth awarded Mundelein-based Medline Industries the 2012 Practice Greenhealth Champion for Change Award for outstanding contributions to environmentally responsible health care.

“We are delighted to receive this award for the second consecutive year,” said Francesca Olivier, corporate sustainability manager for Medline. “Medline understands the effect our environment has on human health, and through our greensmart program, we are committed to being an industry leader that provides products that are eco-friendly and cost effective while conserving valuable resources.”

Practice Greenhealth’s Champion for Change Award recognizes businesses and organizations that demonstrate successful accomplishments in ‘greening’ their own organization, as well as helping their health care customers improve their environmental performance. Medline was honored by Practice Greenhealth at the Environmental Excellence Awards held recently in Boston in conjunction with CleanMed, a global conference on environmentally sustainable health care. Medline is a member of Practice Greenhealth and has an active role in its “Greening the OR” initiative.

“This award establishes Medline’s leadership in prioritizing environmental performance and demonstrates Medline’s commitment to a higher standard of excellence in sustainability,” said Laura Wenger, RN, executive director, Practice Greenhealth. “Medline is truly committed to their customers and community to protect human health and the environment.”
