Artist Pamela Hart showcases new vision in North Central exhibit

When artist Pamela Hart saw her earlier paintings for the first time in a long while after returning from an exhibit, she looked at them as old friends. But as she looked at them over the next few weeks, she thought they looked tired and maybe a little lost. At that moment, she decided they needed more layers of space, depth and an infusion of color.

The results of her realization are displayed in “Through New Eyes,” a free exhibit running though Sunday, May 26, at North Central College’s Schoenherr Gallery at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville.

“This show is all about my new vision,” Hart says.“There have been several times in my career where I had moments — epiphanies, if you will — that changed the way I saw my paintings. These epiphanies have changed the way I painted. This exhibit is my first showing of work following one such moment.”

Born in Leavenworth, Kan., Hart started to draw and paint at age 4. Her formal instruction took place at multiple schools, including the Art Institute of Kansas City. She received her bachelor of science degree with a specialization in painting and her master’s degree in art education from Ball State University.

Hart has worked professionally for more than 10 years, showing her works at numerous museums, galleries and art centers around the country. Partnering with galleries, her work has been collected by members of the past two U.S. presidential administrations, rock musicians and major corporations. She has received numerous awards and recognitions.
