Wis. site offers chance to do 1800s-era chores

MADISON, Wis. — History lovers will get a chance to participate in 1860s-era spring chores next month at a historical stagecoach inn in southeastern Wisconsin.

"At Work and Play at Wade House" is scheduled for May 18 and May 19. Visitors can help prepare and plant gardens, air out quilts, make beds, polish stoves and sweep floors. A vintage base ball game with 19th-century rules is scheduled for the afternoon of May 19.

Tickets are $11 for adults, $5.50 for children between the ages of 5 and 17 and $9.25 for students and senior citizens.

Wade House is an 1860s-era stagecoach inn located in Greenbush, just west of Plymouth. The site includes a working sawmill and a museum that houses the state's largest collection of antique carriages and working wagons.
