Armed robbers strike outside Arlington Hts. gym

Arlington Heights police are asking for help tracking down two men who robbed five people at gunpoint outside a fitness center last week.

The thieves entered Forest View Athletic Club, 800 E. Falcon, about 10:20 p.m. Thursday but left seconds later, according to a police report.

They returned a few minutes later, approached five people who were standing outside the gym and demanded valuables. According to the report, one of the robbers was holding a silver-colored revolver.

Stolen property included Galaxy Note cellphone, Galaxy S cellphone, cash, credit cards, driver’s licenses and a leather wallet.

Arlington Heights police Cmdr. Mike Hernandez said the department has not received any leads on the case, and there was no security camera footage that captured the crime.

“We’re still working it and looking for any information people might have,” he said.

Henandez said the men did not threaten anyone inside the fitness club and no one was injured in the robbery.

One of the thieves was described as a black man in his late teens or early 20s, standing between 5’6” and 5’9” tall with a slim build. He was wearing a white hoodie. The other was described as a black man between 5’7” and 5’10” also with a slim build and in his early 20s, but wearing all black.
