New mayor should focus on rebuilding
It is my opinion that the mayor of Mundelein should be more concerned with rebuilding Mundelein though small business and not corporations.
After all, part of Mundelein’s charm is suburban sprawl, and if our goal is to attract new families, then we should focus on promoting our local schools and businesses. Then, after we have a strong base and a thriving downtown, we can attract the large corporations and continue to build on that base until we have grown into our fullest potential.
Think of it this way, in order to play with the big dogs of business we need to be able to sustain several different industries. Otherwise, we may end up as another sad small-town story where the local plant closed and the town died with it.
Until then, I suggest we bide our time and develop an identity as a community.
