"We've been told not to go outside and not do anything unnecessary," Jin said by phone. "It's so strange because I can see from my window that very little activity is going on, when normally there would be so many people."

He said the police presence has dwindled since Thursday night following the shooting. Jin was in his dorm room about a mile away when it occurred.

"We're trying to not let it weigh on us," he said. "There's a drone from a lot of helicopters going by."

Jin said he and other residents of his dorm have been following along with the rest of the nation as the manhunt continues for suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev, since all classes were canceled today.

"I sincerely attempted to finish my homework that would have been due today, but I didn't," he admitted. "Having school canceled, you can take a deep breath and spend time with friends and be thankful for what you have."
