Most Naperville bridges reopen

Downtown Naperville has become somewhat more passable with the reopening of several bridges.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m. Friday, the city announced the Washington Street, Main Street and Jefferson Avenue Bridges had reopened to traffic. The Eagle Street Bridge remains closed.

According to city officials, some standing water remains on Jefferson Avenue west of the Jefferson Avenue Bridge, and vehicles will have to travel single file through that area.

All of the city’s bridges were closed for most of Thursday night and all of Friday morning, prompting Naperville Unit District 203 to cancel classes on Friday. A decision was expected this afternoon on after-school activities. That update will be emailed to parents and posted on the district’s website at http://www.naperville203.org.
