Learn about fracking at Arlington Heights program

The League of Women Voters of Arlington Heights — Mount Prospect — Buffalo Grove will honor Earth Day with a program on environmental issues in Illinois on Thursday, April 18.

Cindy Skrukrud, clean water advocate for the Illinois Chapter of the Sierra Club, will discuss how to ensure fracking in Illinois is developed with public input and explain why regulations and financial arrangement should be developed to prevent problems experienced in other states.

Skrukrud will review the March 14 legislative debate over fracking, what has been learned about the dangers of fracking, what specific solutions have proved or are expected to prove most effective in preventing or ameliorating these dangers and more.

This free, public program will be presented at 7:30 p.m. at the Arlington Heights Historical Society, 110 W. Fremont.
