Senger meets with GOP officials about challenge to Foster
State Rep. Darlene Senger has been meeting with officials in Washington, D.C., this week about a possible bid to challenge Congressman Bill Foster in 2014.
Senior Republican operatives confirmed to the Daily Herald that Senger, of Naperville, met with National Republican Congressional Committee officials and members of the House GOP, including members of the Illinois delegation.
Senger, who did not immediately return calls seeking comment, has quietly unveiled a new website, www.sengerforcongress.com,
and has previously said that she is “considering” a bid for Congress. A former Naperville City Council member and state representative since 2009, she has developed a reputation for reaching across the aisle, including working closely with state Rep. Elaine Nekritz on Governor Pat Quinn’s pension reform committee.
The 11th Congressional District includes parts of DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will counties.
In November Foster — who served in Congress from 2009-2011 — soundly defeated veteran Republican Congresswoman Judy Biggert, of Hinsdale.
