Chicago man charged in bank robbery
A man suspected of robbing a Chicago bank with his face wrapped in tape has been arrested, but authorities have not yet linked him to a string of other robberies by a man the FBI has dubbed the “mummy bandit.”
Erwin Acox was arrested several hours after Sunday’s robbery. Officers spotted Acox riding a bike and found nearly $3,000 in cash in his pockets, according to authorities. The FBI said in a statement that Chicago police arrested him without incident.
The 39-year-old was charged Monday in federal court with one count of bank robbery. His next court date is Thursday.
