3 injured in Aurora crash

Three people were injured following a crash Wednesday afternoon on Ogden Avenue in Aurora.

A police spokesman said the three-car crash occurred around 4:10 p.m. near the intersection of Ogden Avenue and Waterford Drive, shutting down one westbound lane on Ogden Avenue.

A preliminary investigation shows that a Pontiac Bonneville traveling east on Ogden Avenue was turning north onto Waterford Drive when it pulled in front of a BMW sport utility vehicle that was traveling west on Ogden Avenue. The BMW crashed into the Bonneville, and the force pushed the Bonneville into a Chevy Suburban that was stopped at a light on Waterford Drive.

A 59-year-old male passenger in the Bonneville had critical injuries that did not appear life-threatening. The female driver of the Bonneville and the female driver of the BMW had minor injuries.

All three were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center, according to the spokesman.

Aurora Police traffic investigators were still on the scene as of 8 p.m. Wednesday night. The intersection will not have to be closed for reconstruction, but motorists were being advised to avoid the area.
