‘Mummy bandit’ robs 5th Chicago bank

A man the FBI is calling the “mummy bandit” because of the wrappings he uses to disguise his face is suspected of robbing another Chicago bank.

Police spokesman Jose Estrada says Sunday morning’s robbery took place at a TCF Bank branch in a grocery store on the city’s North Side. It’s the fifth bank robbery since December in which the man is suspected.

The FBI released images from a surveillance camera showing a man wearing medical tape or gauze wrapped around his face. He also had on gloves and a yellow winter hat.

Estrada says no one was injured in the robbery and the man did not display a weapon.

He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
