Lucassen wins Round Lake Park mayor seat

Linda M. Lucassen defeated challenger Kathleen B. Pender for Round Lake Park mayor as part of a clean sweep for her political slate, unofficial election results show.

“It just means we’re going to have a brighter future. We work together as a very good team,” Lucassen said Tuesday night. “We have a lot of work to do, and we’re going to do it together.”

Lucassen will succeed Jean McCue, who did not seek re-election.

With all six precincts reporting, Lucassen had 438 votes and Pender had 265. Lucassen, the former village clerk, was elected trustee in 2011, and an appointment will need to be made for her seat.

Running with Lucassen as part of a Voice of Tomorrow for Everyone slate, Karen M. Eggert defeated Christine Lucheck 410 to 269 to win the clerk’s office, according to unofficial totals.

In the race between two slates for three 4-year village trustee seats, VTE candidates were victorious. Robert P. Cerretti, an incumbent and retired businessman, led with 397 votes, followed by Donna G. Wagner with 374 and Raeann McCarty-Robles with 312 votes.

David B. Christensen led the defeated Back in Black slate with 286 votes, followed by Robert H. Seminary with 282, and Jean Galford with 239.
