You don't often hear about properties in Arlington Heights that overlook five acres of wetlands. That type of open space and view is generally expected to be found in more rural areas in outlying Chicago suburbs.

But this two-story brick and vinyl siding colonial home, built in 2000, is within easy biking or walking distance of a variety of Arlington Heights' shopping areas, including downtown, yet it feels like you are in the country.

The home takes advantage of its gorgeous setting with its large heated porch and brick paver patio that overlook the backyard and adjacent wetlands. Its views can also be enjoyed from the first-floor master suite.

Elsewhere on the main level there is a formal living room, family room with fireplace, formal dining room, gourmet kitchen with eating area and butler's pantry and laundry room.

The second floor features two baths and three bedrooms, including a second master suite with sitting room. The basement is roughed in for a future bathroom and features 9-foot ceilings, but it is unfinished.

Listing agent Randy Brush of Coldwell Banker offers more details:

What is this home's hidden gem?

"The charming sunroom and brick patio that overlook the five acres of wetlands adjacent to the property are this home's hidden gem."

What would your perfect buyer look like?

"Three perfect buyers come to mind. First, a family in need of an in-law arrangement because the lower level bedroom suite is handicapped accessible. Second, a family with a teenage or grown child since the downstairs suite would provide privacy for a young adult. Or lastly, a family with a live-in caregiver."

What is the coolest thing about living in this neighborhood?

"The home is within walking distance of all schools, K-12 as well as St. Viator High School, churches, shopping and parks."

Which television show can you picture taking place in this home?

"Tim Allen's sitcom family on 'Last Man Standing' could live here because it is the perfect home for a multigenerational family."

What is one adjective you would use to describe this home?

"Inviting."

What are some trees, shrubs or plants in the yard?

"There is a beautiful spring blooming redbud tree in the backyard perennial garden, multiple varieties of hostas in the shade garden path on the east side of the house and stunning summer blossoms on the hydrangea bushes outside the sitting room bay window and sunroom."
