A vote for calm in Barrington Hills

It is unfortunate for the citizens of Barrington Hills that Robert Abboud lost his bid for U.S. congressman of the 16th District in 2008. His politics, like his campaign propaganda, are so Washington, D.C., right now.

In my opinion, his time at the helm of our tiny village is simply resume building. When there is no controversy he creates one. It is hard to demonstrate leadership of a content community. If he only understood that contentedness, civility and harmony are the fruits of great leadership.

So vote for Bob Abboud if you want to enjoy big-time politics on a smaller stage. I would rather see our politics fade back into the background of my life. I will be voting for McLaughlin, Hannigan and Steiper.
