Drake’s experience a good thing to have

For the first time in 20 years, Arlington Heights has an open race for mayor. Wow, that’s a long time! And certainly the voters have an excellent choice to succeed Mayor Mulder in Ron Drake.

I support Ron because he has experience as a mayor but also because he is the type of person who will be more inclusive and a better coalition builder than either of his opponents. I say this because Ron believes that all citizens of our village should have a say in major matters — including term limits. He backs giving voters the choice on this issue and won’t use legal technicalities to keep a term limits referendum off the ballot.

Ron Drake also has the practical political experience necessary to help eliminate the bureaucratic maze that many businesses face over at village hall. Ron will also look out for residential taxpayers and will minimize cost overruns on any new police station.

Ron also has an excellent record as mayor of Avondale, AZ. He worked closely with Sen. McCain on several projects and has experience working with federal officials in a positive way. Ron was also re-elected there handily. Clearly, the voters of Avondale felt he was doing a good job too.

Vote Ron Drake on April 9.
