Longtime Arlington Hts. library trustee makes picks

Until I attended the recent League of Women Voters election forum, I knew nothing about any of the candidates for the Arlington Heights library board. However, having served on that board myself for decades I feel I have some insight into the qualities that make a good board member.

On a number of occasions over the years, it fell to the board to appoint a replacement for a member who had resigned for some reason between elections.

I decided that the best of the four candidates currently vying for the two vacancies are Tiana Brazzale and Joan Brody Garkisch. It seemed to me that their underlying attitudes and sense of mission would start them out a step or two ahead of the other candidates in adapting to, and carrying on, the library’s existing culture of excellence.
