An Illinois State Trooper was killed in a crash on the Tri-State Tollway overnight. A semitrailer truck hit the trooper from behind. The incident remains under investigation.
Body recovered from Salt Creek in Addison
Addison Fire Protection officials confirmed that a dead body was recovered yesterday afternoon from Salt Creek. Authorities said firefighters recovered the body of an unidentified male at 3:45 p.m. near the corner of Lake Street and Villa Avenue. Full story.
Buffalo Grove police warn residents after burglaries
Buffalo Grove police are advising residents to keep alert for suspicious noises, vehicles or people around their homes, aftera series of burglaries involving forced entry. Police said there have been seven residential burglaries in Buffalo Grove during February and March, during the afternoon and evening hours. Full story.
N. Aurora man faces multiple charges after Naperville theft, chase
Naperville police, after a lengthy chase during which the suspect struck several cars with his vehicle, arrested a North Aurora man in connection with a theft at a Target store. Dwayne K. Smith, 21, has been charged with two counts of felony retail theft, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident with vehicle damage of $1,500, driving without a license, driving without insurance and resisting arrest. Four hurt as fire sweeps through West Chicago house
Three residents and a firefighter were treated for minor injuries yesterday at an area hospital after fire swept through a house in West Chicago, authorities said. Firefighters said the injuries could have been worse if neighbors had not alerted the residents to the blaze around 12:20 p.m. on the 2400 block of Alamance Drive. Full story.

DuPage traffic stops yields $500,000 drug bust
What began as a routine traffic stop in Bloomingdale resulted in DuPage County sheriff’s deputies finding cocaine and methamphetamines with an estimated street value of $500,000 hidden inside a car, authorities said yesterday. Now the 26-year-old Calumet City man who was driving the vehicle is facing several felony drug charges. Full story.
