Hollywood Casino Joliet has been named a title sponsor of the third annual Route 66 Classic to be run Aug. 17 at Route 66 Raceway.

The Hollywood Casino Joliet Route 66 Classic pays homage to early drag racing and hot rod culture with a night of classic cars and stars. On-track, the event features nostalgia match racing including funny cars, pro stocks, gassers and a jet dragster finale while car enthusiasts can also display their classic car in the Show 'n Shine.

"The Hollywood Casino Joliet Route 66 Classic will serve as an integral part of our 15th anniversary season," said Scott Paddock, Route 66 Raceway president. "As we celebrate our racing history over the past 15 years, this event allows us to honor a sport steeped in tradition. We intend to do just that with the help of Hollywood Casino Joliet, as we look forward to a night of fun, cool cars and old-school drag racing."

It is a second-year partnership between Route 66 Raceway and Hollywood Casino Joliet, but the first time tied to the Route 66 Classic event. Hollywood Casino is also the preferred hotel and casino partner of Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway with marketing and on-site benefits at both properties.

"The Hollywood Casino Joliet Route 66 Classic will highlight an iconic era that is near and dear to both race fans and our guests," said Wayne Smith, Hollywood Casino Joliet general manager. "We are looking forward to being a part of this growing classic drag racing event and providing an entertainment experience that is second to none, both for the fans at the track and at Hollywood Casino Joliet."

Tickets for the Hollywood Casino Joliet Route 66 Classic are only $20, while kids 12 and younger are free with a paid adult. Parking is also free and each ticket serves as a pit pass. Racers can take their classic car down the drag strip with a time trail run card for just $25 or participate by showing their classic car (model year 1979 and older) for free.

Tickets for the 2013 events at Route 66 Raceway and the Dirt Oval are available by visiting or by calling (888) 629-RACE.
