Learn to recognize birds at Lake Co. Audubon meeting

Recognizing Warblers by Sight and Sound is the topic of the Lake County Audubon Society meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 1 at the Libertyville Village Hall, 118 W. Cook Ave. Journalist and editor Sheryl DeVore presents a slideshow with song recordings of the common and not-so-common warblers that pass through Illinois in spring. DeVore consults on bird surveys, teaches, and has a lifetime commitment to ornithology and has given presentations for various nature clubs including the Midwest Birding Symposium, The Nature Conservancy, The Field Museum, and the Chicago Botanic Garden. She is the department editor for the American Birding Association’s Birding magazine and is the founding editor of Meadowlark: A Journal of Illinois Birds. The 90-minute meeting is free and open to the public. Children are welcome. Bird houses will be available for sale. Call (847) 362-5134.
