Repairs close downtown Glen Ellyn railroad crossing

Repair work began Tuesday on railroad tracks in downtown Glen Ellyn that will leave the Main Street crossing closed through Friday.

“It's routine maintenance on the rail through the crossing,” Union Pacific spokesman Mark Davis said.

Officials say no cars or pedestrians are permitted to cross at the tracks on Main during the repairs. Traffic has been rerouted to the crossings at Park Boulevard and Prospect Avenue.

Work is expected to be complete Friday.
