Aurora police probe attempted child abduction
Aurora police are investigating an attempted child abduction in which a man who was not wearing pants made a sexually explicit comment to two girls Thursday afternoon on the city's west side, authorities said.
The man was inside a car described as a newer, black Toyota Camry when a 5-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl were walking home from school about 2:40 p.m. near Laurel Drive and Robert Street, authorities said.
The girls told police the man rolled down the passenger side window while his car was stopped and told the 5-year-old to come over while motioning with his hand.
The 10-year-old told him neither would come near him and they backed away, but the man pulled the vehicle closer to the curb, police said.
The girls told police they could see the man was not wearing any pants. Authorities said he made a sexually explicit comment to the girls while touching his genitals, and then drove east on Robert Street.
The driver is described as a white man with a large build about 27 years old, and his vehicle had an Illinois license plate beginning with the number 9, authorities said. The girls told police he had a small mustache and acne on his face and was wearing a black shirt and a black hat.
Police are asking anyone with information to call investigators at (630) 256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000 to qualify for a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to any arrests.
