Aurora man pleads guilty to sexual assault of children

An Aurora man pleaded guilty Friday to predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child in exchange for a nine-year prison sentence.

Between January 2007 and February 2011, Antonio Gomez, 26, had sexual contact with two girls who were younger than 13, according to a news release from the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.

The sentence is six years for the sexual assault and three years for the sexual abuse, to be served consecutively.

He will have to serve at least 85 percent of the sexual assault sentence but is eligible for day-for-day credit on the sexual abuse sentence. Gomez also will have to register for life with the state as a sex offender.

He was given credit for the 633 days he spent in the Kane County jail, where he had been held since his arrest in lieu of $3 million bail.
