Tri-Cities police reports

Geneva

A burglar used a rock to smash the glass door to the Citgo gas station, 618 S. First St., between midnight and 5:40 a.m. Friday, then stole a cash register drawer containing between $150 and $200, police said.

Giovanni Benitez, 33, of the 100 block of Walnut Drive, St. Charles, was charged with attempted theft at 11:35 a.m. March 9, according to a police report. Police said he tried to take scrap metal from Preventive Maintenance, 2525 Kaneville Court.
