By

Daniel J. Meckstroth, vice president and chief economist at Rosemont's Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity & Innovation (MAPI), will be the opening day keynote speaker at the 2013 Assembly Show, Oct. 28-30 at the Rosemont Convention Center.

Meckstroth will discuss What Lies Ahead for U.S. manufacturing at 9 a.m. Oct. 29.

"We can think of no one better than Dr. Meckstroth to provide our attendees with comments and analysis on a wide variety of economic issues as they relate to the manufacturing sector as he is the primary spokesperson on business conditions and economic matters for MAPI," stated Tom Esposito, publisher of Assembly Magazine. "Understanding what the future of the US Manufacturing sector looks like will be so important for the thousands of engineers and senior managers who have already made plans to attend this event."

Meckstroth has been with MAPI since 1990 and coordinates the economic forecasting and analysis program involving MAPI's nine economists. He also serves as a council director at MAPI and currently is the council director for the Division Finance and Purchasing Councils. Prior to joining MAPI, he spent 12 years at Armco (now AK Steel) in a forecasting and strategy role. Meckstroth earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Cincinnati and a bachelor of business administration degree from Eastern Kentucky University.

Meckstroth joins Michael F. Molnar, director of Advanced Manufacturing National Program Office, and chief manufacturing officer, National Institute of Standards and Technology, United States Department of Commerce, who will be the keynote speaker on Oct. 30.

In addition to these dynamic keynote presentations, The Assembly Show expo hall will showcase leading industry companies, including Silver Sponsor Ingersoll Rand as well as IAI Quality and Innovation, CIRRIS, EPSON Robots, Sovella Human Workspace, and many others.
