As part of St. Patrick’s Day traffic crackdowns funded with grant money, the Elk Grove Village and Wheeling police departments reported these results: Elk Grove police March 14-17, conducted 12 hours of enforcement in identified areas, stopped 40 vehicles and issued 46 seat belt citations, one disobeying a traffic control signal citation and one improper use of an electronic control device (texting) citation. Wheeling police made three impaired-driving arrests and three other significant arrests. In addition, 46 safety belt citations and 32 other citations were written.
