St. Peter's Basilica is a treasure trove of art and an architectural wonder with over 7 million people from all over the world visiting annually. It is also the topic of the spring session of the Rolling Meadows Library's Four Seasons Book Club, whose discussion will be "Basilica: The Splendor and the Scandal: Building St. Peter's" by R.A. Scotti.

The basilica was built during the time of the Renaissance and the list of artists who participated is a who's who of the era including Bernini, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Scotti gives the reader a behind-the-scenes look into the politics and personalities that conspired to build one of the world's most sacred buildings.
