Club to discuss book about St. Peter’s Basilica

St. Peter’s Basilica is a treasure trove of art and an architectural wonder with over 7 million people from all over the world visiting annually. It is also the topic of the spring session of the Rolling Meadows Library’s Four Seasons Book Club, whose discussion will be “Basilica: The Splendor and the Scandal: Building St. Peter’s” by R.A. Scotti.

The basilica was built during the time of the Renaissance and the list of artists who participated is a who’s who of the era including Bernini, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Scotti gives the reader a behind-the-scenes look into the politics and personalities that conspired to build one of the world’s most sacred buildings.

Join the Four Seasons Book Club and explore the scandal, the history, and the art of this popular tourist destination. To sign up and reserve your copy, call the Rolling Meadows Library at (847) 259-6050 and ask for the Reference Desk.

The book club will meet 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at the Rolling Meadows Library, 3110 Martin Lane. Coffee and a sweet treat will be served. This nonfiction book club meets quarterly to discuss a different topic each season. New members are always welcome.
