‘Brando at Brainerd’:

“Marlon Brando at Brainerd”, a fundraiser for the Brainerd Community Center, is set for 8 p.m. Saturday, March 16 at the Improv Playhouse Black Box Theatre, 735 N. Milwaukee Ave., in the Liberty Square mall, Libertyville. Improv Players will present an evening honoring the legendary actor’s tenure in Libertyville. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at www.SaveBrainerd.org or at (847) 968-4529. Doors open 7 p.m. Drinks are BYOB. Light appetizers will be served during the social hour. Seating is limited. Academy Award winning actor Marlon Brando was a high school student at the Brainerd Building when his family lived in Libertyville in the 1930s. Known as a prankster, there are many local stories about Brando’s antics, including riding his motorcycle through the school halls. The Brainerd Community Center is working to restore and re-purpose the historic Brainerd Building into a center for the performing arts in Libertyville.
