One of Chicago’s summer events highlights, the Air and Water Show, will lose two of its star attractions this year because of federal budget cuts.

The U.S. Army parachute team, the Golden Knights, and the Air Force Thunderbirds will not be able to participate.

WMAQ-TV reports that’s because the Department of Defense has ordered a freeze on all flyovers, jump team demonstrations, civilian air shows and military open houses until the end of the fiscal year.

The City of Chicago says it has not heard of any cancellations in the August show, but would fill out the schedule with civilian groups if they aren’t available.
