Teachers strike ends after 9 school days in Dixon
The teachers strike in Dixon has ended after students missed nine days of school.
The Dixon Education Association and school board reached an agreement on a four-year contract early Wednesday. The Telegraph reports that students returned to classes Wednesday. About 170 teachers went on strike Feb. 28.
The teachers and board put out a news release saying details of the contract would be made available after both parties approve the agreement. Teachers say they will ratify the agreement Monday. The school board will approve the contract at its meeting on March 20.
A federal mediator helped with negotiations. The final negotiation session last nearly 8 hours, from 6 p.m. Tuesday until 1:40 a.m. Wednesday.
Contract issues included staffing, salaries and benefits.
