Three nabbed on robbery charges near Clarendon Hills

By Josh Stockinger

Three men accused of robbing a juvenile in unincorporated DuPage County were held Friday on $100,000 bail.

Kelechukwu Akuba, 20, of Romeoville; Leverenzel Booth, 18, of Darien; and Jerron Wilbut, 19, of Willowbrook, each face one count of robbery.

The victim was an acquaintance of the men and arranged to meet with them about 4 p.m. Thursday at a location near Clarendon Hills, according to a news release.

Authorities said the suspects let the victim into their vehicle, robbed the victim of cash and property with an apparent handgun, and released him before fleeing.

Sheriff’s detectives arrested them and recovered the stolen property following “a short investigation,” police said.

All three suspects remained in custody Friday and would have to post $10,000 each to be released.
