Does it really matter that much to you? I really want to know.
Help me get a gauge on what you think about the Chicago Blackhawks’ record-setting streak.
I was at the diner with my buddies the other day and their fantastic streak came up. As lifelong Chicagoans, all of us were proud, happy and thrilled as we discussed one of the greatest streaks of all time.
Then my pal, “concrete head” as we affectionately call him, broke the mood and the laughter stopped.
Yeah, he went there when he said: Can you imagine if this was the Cubs or Bulls or even the Bears? He suggested the Chicago Bulls would be the talk of the nation and probably the world.
Some people are just never happy, but I do know hockey needs this streak more than any other sport. With the recent lockout, the NHL is still climbing out of a hole and needs all the excitement and publicity it can muster.
The big market plus popular young players pulling off the extraordinary on the ice spells gold for the league — all helping to grow the fan base.
Locally, I’m sure on talk radio the Hawks streak is getting played and played hard. And it should be.
But nationally, I’ll be hosting today on Fox sports radio and XM 169 with Pat O’Brien and I know it will only briefly be mentioned, because hockey just doesn’t move the meters.
LeBron James tweeted Patrick Kane on the streak, and Kane responded to the Miami Heat superstar, whose team has a streak going as well.
It’s one of the things I like about LeBron — he tweets other big names on their successes.
Either way, the Hawks and the Heat are taking winning to another level, so let’s enjoy!

It’s warm in the dome:
Hey, it’s snowy and cold outside, but there is a way to think warm.
I stopped by the new state-of-the-art facility in Rosemont — The Dome at the Ballpark — for a taste of summer. There are two indoor diamonds with 210-feet down the lines and 235-feet to center.
Baseball, softball and team and individual raining will be open to all ages, and the park promises to be a destination with leagues and tournaments planned.
I have always loved playing softball and I never thought an indoor dome like this would happen. Check it out at Rosemont.com and click on The Dome for more info.
If some of you prefer golf, there’s always The White Pines Golf Dome in Bensenville, the Hoffman Estates Golf Dome, and the heated Golf Center range in Des Plaines, and others. Whatever your preference, get a fix of summer to keep you going.
Look for me on Mancow on WPWR-TV Ch. 50 at 6 a.m.on Friday and Monday.
I also will be sitting in today from 2-6 p.m. with Pat O’Brien on Fox Sports Radio, XM 169 and iHeart radio.
