Programs cancelled at The Centre in Elgin

By Elena Ferrarin

Programs and classes were canceled at The Centre in Elgin due to Tuesday’s snow storm, but the pool was to remain open in the afternoon.

Group fitness classes were canceled after noon; open gym, usually from 4 to 8 p.m., and all Kidzworld programs for children and parents were canceled Tuesday night.

The Center’s pool, however, will remain open. Open swim will be available from 4 to 6 p.m., and lap swim after 6 p.m. A staff member said fitness instructors were told not to drive to work, but staff was available to keep the pool open.

Also, the box office at the Hemmens Cultural Center planned to close at 2 p.m.
