College of DuPage to Host "Venezuela and the Global Food Crisis" March 12

The Latin American Studies Committee at College of DuPage will host "Venezuela and the Global Food Crisis" on Tuesday, March 12, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., in the Student Resource Center, Room 2000, on the College's main campus, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

During this free presentation, delivered by College of DuPage Professor of Economics Mitch Fisher, attendees will learn about measures that Venezuela's government, agricultural producers and grass roots organizations have undertaken to alleviate the effects of the global food crisis and promote food security and food independence in Venezuela.

This movement is in reaction to the recent food crisis that has led to increases in hunger, malnutrition and poverty across the globe, as well as the United Nations' warning that an upcoming increase in food prices over the next year could deepen the ongoing crisis.

This presentation is free and open to the public.
